Ungifted by Gordon Korman

  1. I loved this book! Gordon Korman really writes some great books- if you haven't read any of his other books I highly recommend them. I really enjoyed reading about how these characters changed after Donovan ended up at their school. I thought this book was a good example of how different people have different talents, and how we can each use our individual strengths to add to a group and make it successful. The part about the robot competition was hilarious- I laughed out loud but was sad that the Academy students didn't win the competition. I also liked reading about the school dance held at the Academy- especially the outfit Noah chose to wear and his actions at the dance. I also thought Katie's character was funny and I loved that they turned her pregnancy into a lesson. I thought she was a good sport and I found it interesting how she began to form relationships with the students. I was also relieved to find out that the dog was just pregnant, and not sick.

    A few questions:
*Would you want to go to the Academy for Scholastic Distinction? Why or why not?
*Why do you think Chloe wants to be "normal?" What do you think "normal" is?
*If you were designing a robot, what would you have it do and why?
*What talents do you have? How can you use these talents to help yourself and others?
*What talents do the students in this book have? How does each contribute to the robot project?
*Why does Noah want to be expelled from the academy? How does he try to accomplish this?

  2. If I had a robot, I would make it chase my cats around the house all day when I am not home. My cats sleep all day, and they keep me awake at night running around playing! It is very annoying. The robot could tire the cats out so they would sleep ALL night!

  3. If I was designing a robot I would make it do stuff like do chores and be my personal servants because I would love it if someone did all my work instead of doing it myself.😤

  4. If I could design a robot, I would make it a butler, so it could get me things like food, drinks, and make it feed my cat and dog so I could sit and watch Doctor Who.

  6. I would not want to go to the gifted academy bcause i am not that fit for the academy. When you walk into the acadamy you are exspected to go in there and solve high school queshtons when i can baraly solve midle school queshtons.

My answer is yes because you could bulid your own robot and battle it against other robots. Another reason is that I would be around people who read the same book as I did. The reason would be the challenges against me, like harder test and work. So yes I would want to go to the Academy for Scholastic Distinction.

  8. I would have robot do my chors because I have so much to do during the day like homework and other things. When I have to do my homework I have a time limet so that i can do my chores too. So if I have a robot to do all the cleaning I will have more time to do my homework.
